Together with my friend Sam we came up with a concept for a Poly Role Play game. The goal is to have fun and reflect by role playing different situations that come up in non-monogamous relationship.
To play, you use this deck of cards that you can print — or you can also make a copy of it and edit on your own:
- You are non-monogamous partners
- Decide jointly on an imagined location (e.g., café)
- Decide who is A and who is B
- A draws two “objective” cards, keeps one, does not show it
- B draws two “character” cards, keeps one, does not show it
- A will role play as themselves initiating a conversation on the objective, while B plays as the chosen character
- Role play for 3 to 5 minutes
- Talk about the conversation (what feelings, thoughts, etc. did it bring)
Variations:
- You can choose a third person as an observer that watches the game.
- You can go through the cards in order.
- You can repeat a situation but swap roles.
- Or, you can find your own ways of playing!
